Symphony joins the United Nations Global Compact

New York and London, 9 May 2023 – Symphony – the leading markets infrastructure and technology platform – is pleased to announce it has joined the United Nations Global Compact — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

The company is proud to join thousands of other organizations globally that are committed to taking responsible business action towards a more sustainable future.

Symphony CEO Brad Levy said: “as a firm we have put a major focus on sustainability and ESG matters in the last year. For us it is about purposefully becoming more sustainable over time with concrete internal improvements while at the same time supporting our clients’ and investors’ ESG journeys. Our community can have the certainty that they are in business with a company that follows globally recognized principles on labor, human rights, environment and anti-corruption.”

By joining the UN Global Compact, Symphony has publicly committed to adhere to the organization’s Ten Principles, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to communicate on its progress annually.

“Our participation in the UN Global Compact highlights a structured corporate approach to sustainability that thoughtfully considers all aspects of our operations, strategy, communications and market engagement. We are confident this is the first step to truly impactful work with science-based targets and metrics,” said president and chief financial officer, Ben Chrnelich.

Symphony leaders will be joining the UNGC programs Climate Ambition Accelerator and Target Gender Equality Accelerator to continue the company’s alignment to best-in-class sustainable corporate standards and reporting.

The company has also demonstrated its commitment to support ESG needs in financial services. In 2022, Symphony acquired Amenity Analytics, a natural language processing (NLP) data analytics solution that drives actionable insights to portfolio managers, research professionals, analysts and other financial markets participants. Through the Amenity platform, Symphony offers its customer base powerful ESG capabilities as firms proactively monitor and analyze sustainability matters in their supply chains, investment portfolios and overall sentiment through news and publicly available sources.
